Students Organization

Student Organization:

The main objective of the Student Organization Office (SOO) is to foster student involvement as an integral part of their university experience. We register student organizations and provide a wide range of services, information, education, and support to facilitate the development and growth of students and student groups. By collaborating with university and community partners, including student group advisors, alumni, and national organizations, and by educating students about university resources, policies, and procedures, SOO offers opportunities for leadership development, organizational management, and skill enhancement. Our aim is to empower students, promote high-quality learning experiences beyond the classroom, and nurture engaged and conscientious members of the community.

STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION (SGA) :

In accordance with its Constitution, SGA works closely with the administration at American University of Sint Maarten to address student concerns and act as a liaison between the student body and the faculty. SGA offers valuable resources to ensure students have a successful educational journey. Firstly, our Note Service provides copies of professor's actual lecture notes, medical school supplies, snacks, and AUSM merchandise. Secondly, SGA publishes a monthly newsletter called "AUSM News," which features interviews, campus updates, current medical events, articles contributed by fellow AUSM students, social activities, a photo gallery, and more. Lastly, tutorial services are readily available.

AMERICAN MEDICAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION (AMSA) :

The American Medical Student Association organizes healthcare events for the community and offers members opportunities to gain practical medical experience. For instance, AMSA conducts monthly Diabetes screenings free of charge and hosts clinical workshops open to all students, focusing on refining fundamental clinical skills. For further information, please visit http://www.amsa.org.

CLINICAL RESEARCH SOCIETY :

Members of the Clinical Research Society showcase exemplary academic performance and have the chance to engage in intellectual discussions with their peers, professors, and other experts in the medical field. Students utilize cutting-edge technology to conduct anatomical research, and their findings are regularly submitted to renowned medical journals.

WOMEN’S MEDICAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION :

The primary mission of this organization is to facilitate the integration of women into the field of medicine at all levels. We are dedicated to fostering personal growth, promoting gender balance in administrative and faculty appointments, and organizing educational events for the American University of Sint Maarten community to foster unity among all medical students.

THE INDIAN STUDENTS ASSOCIATION :

The ISA aims to promote Indian culture and heritage among students, faculty, staff, and the local population of AUSM. Membership is free and open to all university students. The ISA encourages individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds to share their unique experiences with the group. Throughout the academic year, the ISA sponsors celebrations of important festivals and various social events.

MUSLIM STUDENT ASSOCIATION :

The MSA hosts several special events, including a welcome dinner for new incoming students and Eid celebrations in November and February. Monthly meetings are open to all students and their spouses.

CHRISTIAN STUDENT ORGANIZATION :

This Christian group welcomes all students and is non-denominational, focusing on the teachings of the Bible. Students have the opportunity to play musical instruments, and the worship service is led by fellow students.

JEWISH STUDENTS CLUB (JSC) :

The primary objective of this organization is to introduce Jewish culture and identity to all participants. The Jewish Students Club warmly welcomes all students who wish to join. It maintains strong affiliations on campus and celebrates nearly all major holidays. The club also organizes Sabbath dinners as frequently as possible.
